‘LIFELINE
ASSOCIATION’ OF BLOOD DONORS INAUGURATED AT
DARSHAN COLLEGE & ST. ANTHONY’S P.U. COLLEGE
‘Give Blood, Give
Life’ is the motto of the Lifeline Association
of Voluntary Blood Donors inaugurated at the
twin colleges on 27th August, 2011.
The President of
the Capuchin Education Board, Rev. Dr. Vincent
Furtado presided over the function. Dr. Suchith
Kumar, Head, Blood Bank, Hosmat Hospital,
Bangalore was the guest of honour and the main
speaker of the day.
Dr. Suchith Kumar
in his presentation clarified several
misconceptions about voluntary blood donation
and called upon the young to donate blood to
save life. The President in his address, lauded
the students for coming forward to do this noble
job for the mankind.
Mr. Somsunder, a
member of the Indian Red Cross Society was
present on the occasion and spoke on the
importance of blood donation.
The Director and
the coordinator of Lifeline Association Fr.
Chetan Lobo welcomed the guests called proposed
to hold at least a couple of Blood Donation
camps in a year preferably on the Feast Days of
St. Francis of Assisi and St. Anthony of Padua.
The College band
added melody to the occasion with the melodious
songs.
The principal of
the Degree College, Fr. Veerus Concessao
proposed the vote of thanks.
Mr. Winston
Vanspall, the English lecturer compeered the
programme.
In the membership
drive, more than 50 students enrolled themselves
as prospective blood donors.
