Industrial Visit by Darshanites
Industry, thrift and self-control are not
sought because they create wealth, but because
they create character. In order to merge
theoretical learning with practical skills,
Darshan College organized an Industrial Visit
for the students to Heritage Winery, Ramanagara
and Toy Industry, Channapatna, Karnataka. The
students were filled with astonishment to know
the process of wine-making which consists of
fermentation from sediments and yeast using
traditional filtration techniques. The Toy World
enlightened the students as to how the toys are
manufactured and distributed. This traditional
craft is protected as a geographical indication
under the World Trade Organization, administered
by the Government of Karnataka. As a result of
the popularity of these toys, Channapatna is
known as Gombegala Ooru (toy-town) of Karnataka.
Indeed, it’s a symbol of pure craftsmanship and
artistry. Imagination is more important than
knowledge.
