Karnataka Rajyostava or Kannada
Rajyostava, also identified as Karnataka
formation day is celebrated on 1st
November of every year. This was a day
in 1956 when all the Kannada
Language-speaking regions of South India
were merged to form the State of
Karnataka. The nucleus of our
Institution is to add structure to our
social lives and connect our students
with our glorious past. It was with
great spectacle and magnificence that
St. Anthony’s Institutions (Darshan
College and St. Anthony’s P.U. College)
celebrated this auspicious episode as an
expressive way to honor our acclaimed
Heritage, Culture and Tradition.
On the 26th November at 3.pm Rev. Fr.
Robin Victor D’Souza, Rev. Fr. Roshan
Rosario and Rev. Fr. Joy Wilson D’Souza
proudly hoisted our State Flag to mark
the commencement of an enthralling
sequence of cultural extravaganza.
Followed by the exciting and vibrant
procession showcasing numerous cultural
and traditional dance forms of Karnataka
was steered by the students that
comprised of Dollu Kunitha,
Bharatanatyam, Kamsale, Veeragase, Pata
Kunitha, Gaarudi Gombe, Puja Kunitha and
Yakshagana which was launched at the
Campus and took a tour of the
neighborhood. Once the procession
reached the campus, it flagged the way
for stage program with the honorable
guests Rev. Dr. Fr. John Alwyn Dias
(Provincial Minister of Karnataka
Capuchin Province), Mr. S. T.
Somashekhar (Minister of State for
co-operation of Karnataka), Dr. T.
Yallappa (Poet) and Dr. Appagere
Timmaraju (Musical Artist) were welcomed
on stage followed by the dignitaries
addressing the audience with stimulus
and impetus.
Our Faculties in the persons of Prof.
Manjula, Prof. Bharathi and Prof.
Ambarish awarded for their completion of
P.hd. and publishing books. Four others
– Rev. Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas, Ms.
Shruthi, Mr. Kalale Javaranayaka and Dr.
T. H. Lava Kumar received awards in the
field of Social Service, Sports,
literature and Art. Group cultural
performances captivated the audience
with all eyes glued to the stage thus
the program came an end with grandeur by
providing dinner to all the guests and
audience.
