Menstrual Health & Hygiene @ Darshan College
Safety has to be everyone's responsibility. In order to provide accurate information about menstrual cycles, hygiene practices and health implications Women Cell committee with collaboration of NSS Unit of, St Anthony’s College organized a session on Menstrual health and hygiene to the first-year female students of BCom, BBA and BCA streams on 24th of August 2024 at Lecture Hall.
Prof. Molly Dsouza educated the students about menstrual health, how to practice keeping the body clean during menstruation to stay healthy and comfortable. Also explained the causes, effects of poor menstrual hygiene and diseases by improper disposal of pads. Guidance was given them to use basic facilities such as appropriate clothes, soakage material, water, soap, and toilet facilities with privacy. Provided some tips to practice good menstrual hygiene and about disposal of used sanitary pad.
She also displayed the short video of usage of sanitary pad burning machine and sanitary pad vending machine.
Haleema and Chaithanya of First year BCom, Nidha Siddika of BCA expressed their gratitude for organizing such an important session especially to female students of the Institutions. They also shared that they learnt how to practice health and hygiene during menstrual and to utilize the benefit of sanitary vending machine and sanitary pad burning machine.NSS Coordinator Prof. Balkhis and Prof. Renuka C were during the session. The Director of College Fr. Robin Victor Dsouza in his speech motivated the students to talk about their health problems with female staff without any hesitation. and to utilize the facilities provided by the Institution.
All the students actively participated in the session and gained the knowledge. The session ended with vote of thanks by Anusha of First year BCom.
