Report on visit to oldage home

The NSS (National Service Scheme) unit of St.Anthony’s college had organized a meaningful visit to Sudhama Old Age Home, with the aim of connecting with and bringing joy to the elderly residents. NSS Coordinator

NSS volunteers brought a variety of essential items, intending to address some of their daily needs while also offering companionship, comfort, and joy through our visit.

The elderly individuals at the home were delighted to see us, and we quickly settled into a friendly atmosphere. After distributing the fruits and supplies from management as well as volunteers, we spent time engaging with the residents, many of whom were eager to share their stories and life experiences.

Conversations with them were deeply enriching, as they spoke about their lives, memories, and wisdom, and all listened with keen interest. Crackers like fire sticks, flower pots and sweets were given as a part of Diwali Celebration.

As the visit continued, volunteers organized games and activities to lift everyone’s spirits. Simple games like passing the ball, brought smiles to their faces and helped everyone feel involved and connected. volunteers sang songs, danced, and shared moments of joy and laughter. Some residents even joined in the singing, and all enjoyed a few traditional songs that brought a wave of nostalgia and happiness to the group.

The residents’ appreciation for our presence was evident, and their words of gratitude touched our hearts. Spending time with them reinforced the importance of companionship, as they shared how much they valued having someone to talk to and laugh with. Our visit reminded us of the impact of showing care and affection, especially for those who might feel isolated.

In conclusion, the visit to Sudhama Old Age Home was a fulfilling and humbling experience for our NSS volunteers. It strengthened our resolve to continue serving and engaging with the elderly, and we left with a sense of purpose, knowing that our small efforts had brightened their day. We look forward to future visits and are committed to building stronger bo nds within the community.
