Inauguration of NSS and Red Cross Unit of St.Anthony’s College for the academic year 2024-2025 was conducted on 11th September 2024. The Chief Guest for the day was Dr.Karianna Nishad Asst. Prof. law college Bangalore Uuniversity. He is a poet and critic in Kannada literature. Rev.Fr.Joy D’Souza Principal, Darshan college, NSS Program officer Prof. Balkhis ,NSS Asst co-ordinator Dr. Santhosh, Red Cross co-ordinator Prof. Leelavathi P were present for the event.
The program started with the inaugural dance by final year NSS volunteers, followed by lighting the lamp by Dignitaries. Dr.Santhosh gave Chief Guest Introduction and welcomed the gathering.
NSS Student Secretary made a presentation on various NSS activities carried out in the academic year 2023-2024 to motivate the first year volunteers. Chief Guest gave an outline about cleanliness and importance of inner peace and how to continue social service to the society. Emphasized the role of cleanliness in maintaining both personal health and a healthy environment.
He suggested practical ways to maintain cleanliness, such as regular personal hygiene, keeping living spaces clean, and participating in community clean-up efforts. He stressed the importance of being actively involved in one’s community and society and encouraged individuals to contribute positively to society through volunteering, supporting local initiatives, and fostering a sense of community.
Later principal addressed the gathering with his enthusiastic speech, he encouraged the students to participate more and more for NSS and Red Cross activities which will render their service to the society one way or the other Volunteers were reminded on NSS Motto “NOT ME BUT YOU”. Volunteers understood the importance of NSS and Red Cross unit and they aimed that they will work diligently for the welfare of the society.
he Program was concluded by NSS Anthem followed by National Anthem.
At the end as a part of green initiative NSS and Red Cross unit had conducted planting sapling program. All dignitaries along with volunteers went to the college ground for planting saplings
