Darshan College NSS Unit Camp @ Karubele
“Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I’ll
remember; involve me and I’ll learn” inspired by
these words and in accordance to the motto of
National Service Scheme (NSS) “Not Me But You”,
the Darshanites volunteered themselves to camp
at Karubele Village. The camp was inaugurated by
Prof. Dr. R Srinivas, the NSS Co-ordinator of
Bangalore University, in the presence of the
Chief Guest Sri. Srinivas Murthy, President of
Vijayalakshmi Girls Hostel, Karubele, Rev. Dr.
Fr. Alwyn Dias, the Director, Rev. Fr. George
Monis, the Principal, Rev. Fr. Joy D’ Souza,
Science Coordinator, Prof. Dr. Manjula, the NSS
Coordinator, Prof. Divyashree, the Camp
Organizer. Fifty NSS volunteers participated to
deepen the spirit of other-orientedness. NSS
Students visited houses to create an awareness
on various aspects like: Spread of Dengue and
Preventive Measures, Health and hygiene,
Reducing the usage of Plastic. A “real life” was
made visible to them through: ‘Shramadan’. The
Students along with the Professors resided in
the village for 5 days. During the valedictory
programme Dr. Sathish Prasad awarded the
students and appreciated their service. The
whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors
into windows – this is what the program was all
about.
