India is a sacred land which has given birth to several major religions of the world like Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism and Sikhism with their various affiliations and branches. THEOLOGY is a well developed and advanced branch of Humanities that studies Religions of the world with a special emphasis on their doctrines and spiritualities. In the West there are Universities with full fledged faculties of Theology that promote studies in different branches of theological sciences, like Scripture, Doctrine, Ethics, History, Ecumenism, Comparative Religions, Religious Law and Mysticism. But in India, this science is generally merged with Philosophy, but philosophy is no more deals with religion as seen in the curricula of universities abroad. Hence there is urgent need to develop the branch of knowledge called ‘Theology’ in Indian Universities. Darshan College attempts to respond to this need.
