‘No short-cuts
in order to be Successful’: Lokayukta DC Syed
Riaz @ the Annual Day Celebrations of St.
Anthony’s Institutions, Kengeri
“Let your focus be on becoming good citizens of
the country through excelling in right conduct.
Never ever get into the habit of short cuts in
order to be successful” advised Mr. Syed Riaz,
the Deputy Commissioner and PRO of Karnataka
Lokayukta. He was addressing the students at the
Annual Day Celebration function of St. Anthony’s
P.U. College and Darshan College at Kengeri,
Bangalore on Tuesday, 10th January.
He also appreciated the selfless service of
Christian Educational Institutions. He was in
all praise for the twin colleges run by Capuchin
Fathers in Kengeri. He advised parents to grab
the occasion by admitting their students to such
colleges where not only academic excellence is
achieved but the whole personality is blossomed.
St. Anthony’s P.U. College and Darshan College
are the twin colleges run by Karnataka Capuchin
Fathers along with their more than half a dozen
schools run all over Karnataka. The Colleges
also provide excellent hostel facilities for the
students of the college.
Rev. Dr. Vincent G. Furtado, the Head of the
Capuchins in India presided over the function.
Sr. Therese, UFC, Headmistress, Gnanabodhini
High School, Dubasipalya was the guest of honour.
The Director of the Colleges Fr. Chetan Lobo
welcomed the gathering and the Principal Fr.
Veerus Concessao read out the report. Acclaimed
Kannada Christian writer Dr. B. S. Talwadi was
felicitated for his life time achievement. Fr.
John Peter, Headmaster, St. Anthony’s Church
School, Gangondanahalli and Ms. Rashmi Swamy,
Principal, St. Anthony’s P.U.College were
present on the dais.
A number of breath- taking cultural items were
showcased on the occasion by the students of the
twin colleges. Lecturer Ms. Smitha D’Silva along
with students Kajal, Jyothi and John Francis
ably compeered the programme. A large number of
audience was present on the occasion.
